X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

How should I be compensated?

Dropped off my car ('13 x6 50i) originally for a repair to a cupholder. Picked it up and the steering wheel wouldn't move anymore. They say they need a whole steering column to get the part off of. Bring it back, they repair it. Get in and now it's going nuts with warnings about the adaptive headlights and low beam high beam and parking lights. They say bring it back when we get the parts. Brought it back today and they didn't finish in time so they gave me a brand new x1 as a loaner. Literally 2 miles on it. Guy says its low on gas so go fill it. This was already annoying but ok whatever. Drive a 1/4 of a mile to the station and it dies as I pull in. Luckily a shuttle van for the dealer is filling up as it dies. Driver helps me push the car in.

So here I am, 80k car back 3 times in 2 weeks for service and I'm pushing a loaner car to the pump in 98 degree weather. Miserable.

I want a hitch on my car. Think they'll give me a 1k hitch for free?

I'm unbelievably unhappy...

You have a reason to be. I can't believe they gave you a loaner and had you fill it up right off the lot. I can't believe they gave you a damn X1. They definitely should give you a couple free services, I don't know about the hitch though. I think it all depends on the guy you're dealing with and how upset they think you are.

Did they reimburse you for the gas? or did they just give you one of their gas cards?
(Might want to "Forget" to give that back, for a while.)

Good Luck get'n a hitch out of them. Worth a try though.

The shuttle driver paid for the gas, filled it in full. I of course have ZERO plans to fill even one drop.

The hitch might be a stretch but I know of nothing else I want! All my services are free (barring something out of ordinary which I can't exactly plan on)...

I would keep an eye on every problem and keep the vehicle in their face if problems persist. You may want to look at Lemon Laws.

Free was probably a stretch -- lets see if I can get a discount

just to close the loop, the service manager was very apologetic and shocked at their own incompetence..

They will detail my car for free, and they are doing the hitch install at cost (so about $700) instead of full price ($11-1200)...

Fair deal. Never worth aggravation--but least you got something out of it.
