E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

Pretty much Craigslist. Learn how to use the search criteria on there. For example:

(198? | 199?) BMW 325?

This will pull back any 80s or 90s 325i or e, but not is or es, so then you can improve it:

(198? | 1990 | 1991 | 1992) BMW (325? | 325?? | 318? | 318??)

I have a larger query that tries to pull in all the variations, but then people sometimes put spaces between the 325 and the i, so then I miss possible items of interest. You have to kind of guess what people might type. One guy was selling an eta and referred to it just as 1987 BMW E. Almost nobody puts E30 in the titles for whatever reason. Only E30s ads I see are from guys who did engine swaps.

My best advice is to play around with the queries like this. I found my car in a more rural part of the state, listed by a guy who was not terribly Internet savvy and had juxtaposed the letters BMW as BWM and so I only came upon it because late one night I happened to search just using "325is" instead of my usual queries with "BMW" in them.

Keep an eye on the "nearby areas" results, that's where I often find gems. I've seen a lot of E30s on CL all around the midwest this year, probably three dozen or more, a few rust buckets, but mostly very decent at good prices. If only I owned a bigger lot or a warehouse where I could keep a couple of parts cars...

Also check the BMWCCA classifieds.

Wow its amazing how many more popped up after trying that thank you. Good to know that craigs list accepts those kind of search commands.

Cal-i-for-ni-ay. I saw a car at the boneyard about a year ago that would have brought tears to the eyes of them looking to drop in a twin cam. This car - '87 325i sedan - had an odo reading of 73K. The interior and body were cherry, me and my buddy figure some fool finally broke the first timing belt. It still had most of its parts and I asked them if I could buy it. Nope, no, sorry, not our policy. IOW, they make more parting it out. I bought the front seats - leather comfort in mint shape - got the fuel pump and a few other parts.

Saw another 325i at the boneyard the other day with 107K. You'd have to live here and hit the auctions I guess. And then all you'd get is a low miles rig with a blown timing belt, and I'm sure they don't come along every day.
