Cornering lights failure! !..How can I erase this?

So I got a little water in the seal, and this light came on....I don't want to go spend $2000+ to get it fixed....is there a way to just erase the code? The lights work great, they just don't turn. Any help would be super.

It's not 2K. It's $500 and an Indy shop can do it. Your module for the adaptive head lights went out. a few hours of reprogramming and a new module and you're set to go. Just had it done on my car 2 weeks ago.

$500.....

And still $500 for a maybe fix is not what I am looking for...I want the $0 fix....again, I have taken it in, and they think it's going to cost $2000.

Mmm, Toyota. Great choice. Run it to the ground, pay $0.

Ok, well if anyone is local, I am happy to spend $500 if it's going to fix the problem...I am not interested in paying $125+ to find out it's $1500+. I was wondering if there was a way to get around the light coming on, but it sounds like, "not without fully fixing it".

You jest, I would paint it with some leftover deck-protection paint (nice brown color) from last weekends yearly deck repainting. Brown is classy.

If you got water inside the headlight , it's not your adaptive module. It's the SMCII module that shorted out. The module sits in the bottom, outer corner of the housing and if water gets in, that's the first place it pools.

You have a couple options...

You can buy a used module on eBay, etc. Make sure it's from a vehicle from your region ie US vs Germany. LHD vs RHD. You can then code the used module into your car.

You can buy a new module from an oem parts reseller. However, a new module requires flashing, then coding.

You can also edit your VO and remove the option for adaptive lighting. This will remove the error on your dash, but adaptive lighting will not work.

If you are in the North NJ or Philly area, I can do all the necessary flashing/coding for you.

Mine flashed this code last Thursday. Its going in to dealer next Saturday. Just to let you know, adaptive lights worked fine the next day no errors.

fdriller9 please could you explain what do you mean with "You can also edit your VO and remove the option for adaptive lighting. This will remove the error on your dash, but adaptive lighting will not work"? I would like to apply your suggestion (I do actually have the same problem and do not want to spend any more money on the car) to simply remove the message (I don't care if the cornering lights do not work). What's the VO? Thanks a lot.

$2k for an early model E9x is not significant.

How can you ever hope to move up to Porsche, or Mercedes, when you are concerned with that amount?

Any updates on if this issue was resolved? I just bought some new Hella Headlights for my e65 and am getting the same error message. The dealer thinks that maybe the headlights are not adaptive, Hella says they are. I think with a new SMC II module it will work...I hope.

The body shop installed my SMC II on the wrong headlights I think but I'm not sure if there is a right/left or maybe once they are coded it knows it for the right or left.

Any updates here?

Thanks

Crap! Where should that duct tape go? I even have Gorilla tape! I used to live in Seattle where moss grows on your roof but now I can't get any moisture in So Cal but what if it actually happens one day? What a horrible design to leave such an expensive part exposed to water. I'm not hurting but still wouldn't want to spend $2k to fix that stupid thing!
