E46 328i to 330

Would a swap from a 328i to a 330i be a clean swap. If so what would be needed. If not what types of modifications would be necessary?

Probably can. I think it's the same basic engine, with the 330 having a longer stroke to get the extra .2 L. DBW is drive by wire which means a sensor at the gas pedal and an actuator motor at the throttle plate in the intake vs. a cable connecting the two as on older cars.

So im assuming if my car is DBW then it would be a clean swap? what parts, along with the M54B30 engine would be needed to complete the swap

I don't know but I am inclined to doubt it would be a simple plug and play swap. My recommendation would be that you talk to your local BMWCCA chapter to see which local shops sponsor them. Those shops would be very good resources for you to consult on the project.
