E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

2010 BMW 128i 41k miles

Hey Folks, just had my beloved 128i turn over to 41,000 miles today...which means only 9k left of warranty coverage :-(

Ive owned the car since new and babied it, but question is, how close am I to having problems with the car based on miles.

Debating trading it in for a lower mileage car before hitting 50k...any thoughts?

Not particularly close to having problems. With routine maintenance you can drive this car to 200k - 300k miles or more if you want.

You can purchase an extended warranty from BMW.

That would just be a best guess. It is probably best to keep the car since you have had it since new.

You won't know if the previous owner babied the car like you did yours?

Bottom line I think you will be better off spending a few thousand for an extended warranty than taking the hit on trading in your present car.

Call a few BMW dealers and shop for the best price on one of the extended warranties BMW offers. The warranty is good nation wide regardless of which dealer you purchase it from.

The 1ers aren't know for any major mechanical flaws (excepting N54 engines, which you don't have). I have to agree with the other posters here. The money you will spend on a newer car or an extended warranty will be far more than any unforeseen repair costs in the future (assuming you maintain it properly).

Just out of curiosity, what schedule did you follow for things like oil, transmission, other fluid changes? Did you by any chance do the 1200 mile service even though no longer recommended for non-M? The official BMW service intervals seem long to me.

BMW is short on used car inventories and you might get a good deal to trade in your car for a new one.
