Zerocks1 on the M5 board has done it. It is about $5k and a tremendous amount of work. It looks great though.

Zerocks1 does have a 6er. The M5 board is the most popular forum for all M cars, not just the M5. They have sub-forums for each M car including the M6.

Do a search over there, tons of pics, questions, bugs during the install and other info.

It will be pretty much identical to the e60 5 Series with the exception of the front facia panel & the iDrive controller.
Some of the removal & install tasks are identical to those that I carried out when I retrofit CCC to my e63, details here:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=692700

I do know that the e63 centre console has to be butchered in order to fit the CiC controller. Have a read here for the details on this particular issue:

Yes people I did it here's some pic. Cost me less then a $1000 if you wish to do this be patient so you don't ended up pay over $3000 for it. It's worth it but not for that kind of money. I also added the combox as well cost me $400 Click image for larger version

I've been looking for months. I'd sure like to know how you did it for $1K. Mind sharing the details.

Also depends on what system you currently have. If you are on CCC Professional nav then it is allot easier than M-Ask. Also planning this retrofit but shipping to South Africa is damned expensive.

Good point, all of the US spec cars are the Pro version, so we are good to go.

Awesome job Carter!

Well to be honest the reason I spent less then a $1000 is because It took me close to 2 or 3 months to recruited all the parts on ebay and other private local sellers. Then I had to learn how to code the cic so I didn't have to pay someone plus learned how to install it which also could save you lost of Dollars. So if you want to do this tomorrow or in a couple of days chances are you ganna pay a lot. What I did was I set up a few notification using the eBay app so everytime someone post some kind of BMW cic retrofit i'll get a notification and if that's a part I need or what I go for it. Otherwise you would have to pay these other suckers almost $2k just for the unit that's not including the combox which is really the main reason why you would want to do this cic retrofit, that's where you get all the fun and goodies. Not to mention 6fl, 6nr etc which gives you ability to play music using Bluetooth, see your calendar and text messaging on the screen, live Internet, Facebook, twitter etc...so yes I spent less then a 1k but it took me almost 3 months and some luck to get all the parts. As far as install and coding I learned how to do that. I will be adding front and rear camera with the ability to switch camera while driving kinda like night vision for night time.

I never really take pics of my idrive controller, but if you ask because of this retrofit well I didnt have to change it because I already had the new controller with the shortcut buttons which is another reason my retrofit was so cheap.

Trying to figure out what the "combox" part is. Is it the equivalent to BMW apps? Did a search but just coming up with links to retrofit with combox, just not sure what features that portion brings.

You need the combox for BMW apps.... and depending on what year 6er you have you might need an emulator too, I think...

Thanks, Monitoring the thread cuz I have all this stuff on the X5 and I'm not 100% sold on it. There are some nice features, other need improvement, others have bugs / don't work. I'm not looking to do it on the 6 but if the current system goes belly up, it's nice to know there are options.
I'm very impressed with the level of work some of you guys are tackling.
