E63 / E64 6 Series (2003 - 2013)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Question Help identifying this, weather stripping?

Hi,

Relatively new here, been lurking for a couple of months and thanks to all who have documented the AUX retrofit and coding. My first mod was adding the AUX port to my 05 645ci. My top has what appears to be rain gutters, for a lack of a better description that run along the seam of the top on both sides above the driver and passenger doors. It's pretty beat up and broken in several places. I have searched all over the place trying to find a replacement, even checked realoem and found nothing that was obvious. Here is a pic of what I am trying to describe.

Thanks

I believe that rubber strip is sewn into the top and is not replaceable. My '06 has some cracks in that strip also but they are not separated like yours. I think you will have to live with it until you decide to change the fabric top.

Help identifying this, weather stripping?

It's part of the top.

Thanks for the replies. Given I was unable to find anything related to it, I feared it was part of the top and not a replaceable part. I'll probably carefully pull the rest of it out since it's useless now and looks like crap.

Thanks

It is part of the water drainage system sewn into the top. Cannot be replaced without replacing the entire outer fabric.

I may experiment with running a thin bead of black silicon caulking in place of the rubber once I pull the broken pieces. I'll post pics with results.
