Is there a market for Z4 luggage?

I was wondering if there is any market for a collapsible luggage that would fit in the trunk of a Z4. Any thoughts?

Yes, there is DEFINITELY a need and therefore a market. Good quality, modern luggage with collapsible pull handles, wheels, and internal framing sized to conform with both Z4 and airline restrictions available at a REASONABLE cost will be purchased by almost EVERY Z4 owner.

Not sure an independent design and fabrication is necessary. I would suggest a detailed analysis of the Z4 space envelope against currently available commercial products. Perhaps a specific mix of readily available products and models would fit the bill. Worth a try first, no?

Roadstersolutions.com has a luggage set for the E89 under their storage solutions section. Doesn't look like they have collapsible handles though

I own a leather manufacturing business and I am looking for new products to make. Also as a Z4 owner I want something that fits with the top up or down. Doesn't hurt to explore this area at all.

I am a potential buyer. However, I am not sure if I have any design ideas to contribute.

Here is a link to their US pricing. Not sure of the US shipping costs.

If anyone has a set please post your comments on the quality and fit.

Soft Bags from Roadster need wheels

We bought a set of the bags from Roadster to use in our 2013 Z4. They are fairly well made, but they don't have any wheels. We did buy a pair of small collapseable wheeled luggage carts that we have used with them. These bags only come with shoulder straps like a big duffle bag would. We have dragged them around through airports and found it to be a pain, not having any wheels on the bags themselves.

Also when we used them during our European Delivery, the larger bag got torn in a couple spots by the airline baggage handlers/systems. We've installed flag patches over the holes, which seems to fix the hole problems.

By using these bags with them less than full, you can still put the roof down, but if you fill the bags all the way up, there isn't enough clearance for the roof to go down.

Thats kind of what I'm looking to do. but I'm not looking to make anything that is suitable for airline travel. My goal is to make something that works for a road trip in the car. Something that goes in the trunk and allows for the fun of driving with the top down. I'll go to work on it.

The lack of wheels is a NO GO for me. Also, doesn't sound like the durability is all that good.

Will be interested in seeing what you can come up with.

I'm interested. Especially if you put those multi-directional turning wheels on it. A set of 2 bags would be very helpful (his & hers). I do a few roadtrips a year and durable, stylish, good quality leather luggage is greatly appreciated! My current luggage is ready for the luggage graveyard.

I purchased these bags back in 2010. collapsible handle, wheels, solid construction. comes with 3 pieces and is is custom made to fit in the E89 trunk (and also fits in overhead airline bins). Pricey, but it really maximizes your luggage space. Worth it, IMO.
