mine took about 4 days. From production start to shipping, my car was at the dealer in about a week.

Completion date can be found by calling BMWUSA
1-800-831-1117 option 2
Enter production order number
Website is usually behind and does not give a completion date.
Thanks...RISKYBZ

How BMW custom order works (according to my sales person):
Each dealership has preset orders in BMW system. If they don't get sold before they are lined up in sequencing (for BMW to order parts), they will be built as they were set ( basic color, basic seat colors, some packages, etc). If a customer place a order, they can change the presenting to match the costumer order. I ordered mine on 8/8. Before I placed order, sales person told me this order will be built on the week of 8/19 no matter what final setting is. When I received a production number (not yet in sequencing), I can still change setting, which I did. At this period, you may see it in MyBMW but in a wrong color. Once it moves to production (in sequencing), the setting can't be changed and you will see the correct color and package in MyBMW.

The only thing is that my dealer told me it's going to take 4 weeks from order to delivery and this is not going to happen. It's going to be 4 weeks on this coming Monday and my X3 is still under: "Order Documented, Scheduled for Production without Scheduled Production Date yet". Others who placed an order 2 weeks later were told 8 weeks. So there is some unexpected delay.

Great news for you.... and I hope for me too. I think you have placed an order on 7/29 meaning a week before me. So, there is chance mine will go into production next week. Enjoy the holiday and your new car. All the best. B

HELLO AGAIN!

My car went into production today! ...And.... I had to call my dealer and REJECT it! The dealer made few major mistakes - the color of a Wood Trim was wrong and the Top View Camera was gone - Dealers' mistake. It means 1 more month to wait for my order to go into production. I'm starting to think about an idea... DO WE REALLY NEED DEALERS? Wouldn't be nice to sit at your computer and order your BMW through BMW website, just start selecting options, put it in to your cart and edit it later, add and remove what you want and finally place your order and pick it up from your dealership later. Dealerships are being paid for car service by BMW anyway. Isn't what they just should be doing - service?

wow, sorry to hear that...

I'm totally with you on the dealer thing in terms of ordering. they should really just show customer demo cars and provide maintenance and repair service.

Another thing, how did you find out the order is wrong? the website has incorrect information so I hope you didnt reject the order based on that. Everything should be built according to the order sheet that you signed with the dealer. I read somewhere that someone's order shows incorrect order description online, and the dealer didnt have any clue what is the right info, but the car came out correct as the original order!

I'm just saying this fyi. but if you can make it straight before delivery, then go ahead.

I just created a new post with this subject. But talking about the wrong setup I have noticed that if you select your options through BMW website, the list of your packages and all other extras appear in different order the dealer's system. Same when ordering through TrueCar. That's why the dealers ask you again via email about your car setup. Still they need to "translate" your order manually into their system. And this is where the mistake took place. I checked with the dealer and I was right. Today, n the afternoon, I checked the website, and for the first time I was able to see my car entering production and the list of packages and extras. It was wrong. I called the dealer immediately, but at this stage it's too late to do any changes. Worst part? Two weeks ago I sent an email to my dealer with the full list of my order asking him for confirmation. He has never replied. And now I'm screwed. I would love an idea of buying directly from the factory. Actually this is what BMW is planning with their new small electric car that will be entering the market in Europe this year and us market next year. Dealerships in Europe and the US plan on protest it. You can google the news. Thank you for your support. Happy driving!

Be sure to get a copy of the production order. The first time around on my order the satin roof rails were not indicated and needed to be changed.
BTW, my x3 35i M Sport is in production with a 9/3 completion date. Getting really hard to wait!!

Website may have incorrect information at the very early stage. But today the information was correct, it was a wrong setup. I didn't have to sign any papers at the dealership. I just made a deposit and got the production number.
