headlight lens cap for 328i e90

Hi, I cracked the clear lens cap on my passenger front headlight. Any ideas how I can just replace this part or would I have to replace the whole headlight housing? Any suggestions on best place to buy would be really appreciated. Thanks!

You must replace the whole housing unless you can find someone to open them up for you and have a spare lens laying around, which just so happens, I can open them and have a spare lens.

But I cut the housings open. It's not fun nor easy.

Cool. Thanks for letting me know. I just picked up this car at a great price but it needs a little love.

Maybe you know the answer to this - it just has the stock lights (I believe they are hid ones) but if I have to replace the whole light, I'd want to upgrade to an angel eyes kit, but I was having a hard time finding a good one. Let me know if you have any suggestions where to look (if this is even doable to upgrade).

The cracked one is actually the passenger side but because of the glare this morning I couldn't get a good picture:

I checked the paperwork, it's a stock halogen headlight.

There is no plug and play kit for the E90 pre-LCI housings, unfortunately.

If you do decide to change the lens, it's a good time to retrofit LED rings. How they will look in a halogen housing, I can not say. Most people upgrade to Depo P90 housings which are aftermarket xenon headlights. They sell upgraded ones with LED rings pre-installed.

The projector quality of the Depos is poor though. However, it is an improvement over the stock halogen setup you have.

Awesome, thanks for your help - I tried googling the Depo P90 housings, but didn't really see anything on where to buy, any suggestions?

That's stock halogen and fairly cheap to replace whole light.

Should you go AE HID's you're looking at $600+

For the Depo ones, would you recommend buying something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEPO-Factory...-/171089385057 or is there a better place to buy them from?

I've heard good reports about those. The ones in the link only have halogen bulbs... Same seller has another set on eBay for $490 that come with HID pre installed. Do those.

Thanks! I'm fairly new to understanding this - what's the advantage to having HID installed on these?

Also, what do you think of these? http://www.protuninglab.com/20bmw3e904dr1.html

Anyone have any experience with that site? Those do seem to be HID and I talked to them and seems like a straightforward install.

I would get these over the other ones.

You need to get bulbs. The high beam bulb you can swap from your old setup. You'll need a 35w HID kit.

Thanks, I ended up buying the ones on Ebay - they did say they had all the bulbs already? Or are you saying it's just better to get different bulbs? I'll let you know how the install turns out.

Please let us know how it goes. I've been itching to do this for a while but haven't been able to psych myself into it.

Maybe this vendor supplies them. The set I last installed need an additional HID kit.

If we're talking about fishcake321, he has two sets up for sale... With and without an installed HID kit. One is fifty bucks or so more than the other.

Correct, I ordered from him w/ the HID pre-installed - and yeah it was $50, but probably worth it. I expect them to show up end of this week, so hopefully by end of next week I'll have some pictures!

I'm also doing a bumper replacement (front and back) w/ the M style bumper from EuroPartsAutoStore.

So after a bunch of delays, I finally got these installed. They look great, but the passenger side one has been a little buggy. As you can see, the passanger turn signal light isn't working yet, we think it's a bad connection. Also, once or twice the passanger angel eye ring cut out too, probably a bad connection as well. If anyone has more experience with these things, I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

Looks very nice. What are your thoughts on the quality of the lights themselves (other than the intermittent power issues)?

Quality of the lights seem good, I haven't really driven much after dark since putting them in, but they look pretty crisp. The quality of the headlights themselves seem good too, the fit is good. I'll have a more definite verdict once I resolve the connection issues with the passenger one.
