IMO you should just get a new one, I was thinking they're not really all that expensive, but maybe I'm mistaken ...

Ron, where do you get pricing so fast? Do you have a pricebook or something? Where can I get one?

You can purchase the 6/99 BMW retail price book from Paul $30.00 retail. Old, but BMW pricing doesn't change much. It has the same $491 that the 4/04 Mitchell European estimator has. You can subcribe to the Mitchell book. Six issues a year for around $250.
I'll sell you a new 6/99 BMW spiral bound one with a BMW decal on the cover for $45.00 plus shipping.

I frequently use Bell BMW for rough parts costs, especially if I already know the part number. They don't have everything in their system, but they have more parts listed than anyone else I've found with on-line searching and shopping. Prices are sometimes competitive, sometimes not. For big-ticket items I check around. For smaller items I often buy from Bell because it's easy and I can do it at 2AM. They show $635 list for P/N 33312228200, with their selling price set at $533.40. I'd bet my local dealer would give me a better price, and shipping wouldn't be cheap for a subframe.

They inflate roughly 30% over retail and then discount roughly 16%.
From Paul at retail -25% this part would be $368.25.
My local dealer sells at retail plus 50% and discount 10% if your a BMWCCA member so it would be 662.85 from them.
It pays to have a price book.

Ron has bought enough parts to build another car almost, so he probably knows his stuff.

Dealers do some strange things.

One local dealer sells over book. But if you are a CCA member they sell for 20% off of book. So it is even more of their normal prices.

Indeed. Mine doesn't seem to have a one-size-fits-all mark up/down. On parts I've bought, I've seen anywhere from 30% to 75% difference between 'LIST' and 'NET' on the invoice. The last 75% difference that I can recall was the Oetiker clamps for the air intake (P/N 11.61.7.841.745). List was shown on the invoice as $3.04 each, but they only charged me $.76 each. I have never shown them my BMWCCA membership card.

If I go new, I am going with Paul. I am into him for 2 grand about now. But hey, gotta have all the goodies right? On average I find that Paul is 25-30% cheaper than the other guys, but you didnt hear that from me.
