Low Mileage Oil Changes

I don't put a lot of miles on my 35i so the first oil change was after 16 months and less than 8000 km (5000 miles). The computer is now telling me the next service is two years after the first change (or 27000 km). Is it really possible that on this pace I could go 2 full years without an oil change?

Isn't there a time interval as well as mileage for oil change. I think 2 years is too longer for an oil change, the car might have low mileage, but there are still enviomental affects such as condensation. In the US, there is a 1 year low mileage oil change regardless of the service indication, do they have that in Canada?

Def. check with your dealer in Canada. I get the low mileage oil change in the U.S once a year. First one was done at 12 months, 7,500 miles. Had my second one 11 months later at 14,000 miles. Since I have low miles the dealer doesn't go by the indicator on the dash but by calendar instead.

I also get low mileage annual oil changes
You must diligently schedule them with the dealer
I was 10 days early the first year and the dealership refused to do it
Complained to BMW Canada to no avail
The annual oil change policy is now more flexible for low mileage customers
I would not wait two years either way

I got a low mileage oil change for free as well. BMW won't actively tell you to come in for oil change, you just have to go in and ask

I've had low mileage oil changes done by the dealer for several years to different models. I've never had an issue with BMW refusing to change the oil at 12 months regardless of the mileage. You shouldn't have any issues if you schedule it and ask them to do it.
