Lowering my X5

I want to lower my x5 to give it that sex appeal look. I have struts in the front and air bags in the back. Is it possible to convert to lowering spings in the back?

You can convert the rear to a spring and shock combo, but you'll need to code the car to not look for the air ride system in the back. But you don't 'really' need to do that, H&R has Sport Springs (LINK) available for the E53 which come with adjustable lowering links for the rear.

What year is your X5 and model is it? With that information I'll pull the specs for you.

I would like this lowered look as well, but how do you address the issue of neg and positive camber....

Lowering my X5

You can put e53's in towing mode, which lowers the back. You might want to explore this option.

Depending on how low you go a good alignment shop should be able to get the X back in specs with factory adjustments.

Hi, I have a 2004 sportpac with air suspension in the rear. I would also like to lower it and am interested in the H&R kit. I recently had the alignment done and spoke to the guys about the amount of positive camber in the rear as it was chewing out the inside edge of the rear tires. They told me that the factory setting was +2 deg and the best they could wind it in to was +1 deg. The effect of lowering it will slightly increase the positive camber again but that's the price to pay for ' the look '. The best thing to do is have correct tire pressure and buy tires that can be turned on the rim. As I said, mine is the sport pack so wether this is the same for the standard suspension I don't know.
