Those Who Have Replaced Windshield Trim--Questions

First, if I can put this into words--the A pillar part of the trim is essentially a "U" that goes into the space between the glass and the pillar. At the top, where it meets the crossover part and also meets the trim line between the actual top of the car and the 3" of sheet metal above the window, the outside part of the "U" fairs up to the rubber that crosses the windshield. I guess this is perfect for a convertible, but for a coupe I am tempted to slit that piece for the last inch or so so it lies flat against the similar U that runs on back along the roof. Otherwise, water in the roof trim line will run under the A pillar trough. Did I get the wrong part, or how have you treated this?

Second, any ideas for that last three inches of the roof part where it just doesn't want to stuff down between the glass and the body? Almost seems like the lip on the body side doesn't leave as much room in that area.

Thanks.

This was covered. Search "reveal molding". Really easy to do. The lower parts go under the cowl. It is movable

Cvaria--thanks for the reply. I have read all of the posts, plus the BavAuto write up. Bought the soft tools. Haven't seen anything about the issue where the A pillar piece meets the crossover piece. The lack of any comment on this particular issue is what makes me wonder if my trim piece is specific to a convertible, while I have a coupe.

To clarify, I mean at the top of the windshield. I got help in another thread regarding where the A pillar trim meets the cowl, that went fine. My problem is where the A pillar part reaches the top of the windshield.

You are worrying too much. Take you time and be sure to clean out the bits of the old molding out.
