This may be a dumb question by why are BMWs referred to two models names for example my BMW is a 328i but I also see it referred as an E90 only on the web and not at the dealership or elsewhere. Is it the same? Is E90 used in different parts of the world? Thanks

E90 refers to the body style and series. The 328 refers to the series and engine. So 3 series 2.8 litre. 335 is 3 series 3.5 litre

Close but not quite, Furby.

Both the 328 and the 335 have a 3.0 liter engine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_3_Series_(E90)

For the E9X series the departure from associating badge numbers with engine displacement occurred with the 2007 model.

Remember the 2006 330i you used to drive was also a 3.0 liter N52 naturally aspirated engine, but it had about 30 more horses than the 328, thanks to a different tune. BMW knew that the 335i wouldn't be as desirable an upgrade if its lesser sibling was only lacking 50 horses, so they detuned the N52 engine and rebadged it as the 328i in 2007.

Detail added for the benefit of the question asked:

E90 = 4 door sedan
E91 = 4 door wagon
E92 = 2 door coupe
E93 = 2 door cabriolet (convertible)

What does that knob even DO? I guess I could look in the manual and such, but i'm too lazy to do so.

But seriously, what does that knob do? I assume it's temperature? but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Exclamation Paging ///M-Rated, ...

Paging ///M-Rated....

Somebody stole your ///Mojo: This morning, en route to the office, I passed a late-model M3 coupe tagged with the Pennsylvania vanity plate "M R8TED." Didn't look like you driving it, unless you've had the car painted black, dyed your hair and shrunk by at least half a foot in height.

He may be guilty of plagiarism (intentional or otherwise) but earns full marks for keeping to the rightmost lane of a three-lane Interstate. (I suspect he might not be a life-long PA resident. )

DSX,

If i may recommend a more pleasant material, coupled with a shot of Auchentoshan:

Gawd, I want this, the car+exhaust, in that exact color.
Mike Miller can take his disdain for white BMWs, DCTs and, well, pound sand.

Six years on, and the sound of the S65 at full song still makes the hair on the back of neck stand up. One of the best automotive noises of all time!
I know what you mean, Bemo: Much as I loves my third pedal, a 20-minute drive with an M-DCT was enough to say, "yeah, I could get used to this...."

Well I'm conveniently bringing the $6K+ Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust into the picture, but yes, even with a stock exhaust, the S65 is a pure "automotive opera," if I may borrow the well-coined phrase!

Aye, Captain! If this is the exhaust that is installed on Simon's M3, that we had the privilege of experiencing during the last Foliage Run, then there's no arguing with its sweet, raspy sound!

Had to Google the Binford reference.
We really shouldn't get a measurable accumulation but you never know. Two years ago we had The Halloween Surprise which was a genuine Nor'easter from which some people did not recover for a week.
Ilsa will be getting her Winter waxing next weekend and then she's tucked in for the duration. Yup, she's a garage queen. The F250HD does all the heavy lifting until March.
