the best way to check the pump is to check the fuel pressure.

Unfortunately, it isn't going to get any cheaper than buying the tools and working on it yourself. If you aren't able to do that, your only other option is to park it until you have enough money to either work on it yourself or take it to a shop.

Can you spare $20 to diagnose your car?

Go here:
HARBOR FREIGHT
CLIFTON, NJ #00389 (2.2 mi)
1016 MAIN AVENUE
CLIFTON, NJ 7011
973-779-1800
OPEN
Store hours:
M-F 8:00AM-9:00PM
SAT 8:00AM-9:00PM
SUN 9:00AM-6:00PM

Buy this:

http://www.harborfreight.com/fuel-in...ter-92699.html

Read the instructions and use it. If you have less than 45 psi fuel pressure at idle, either the pump is dying or the fuel pressure regulator is going bad.

You'll have to tee it in. The kit comes with the tee, hoses and clamps.
