Ticking from Rear

Lately my 98 328 has been making a loud 'ticking' noise from the rear. The car now has 176k miles.

It seems to click louder under acceleration and in a turn. It sounds pretty bad. I don't notice anything different in terms of how the car drives, however. The noise seems proportional to speed but isn't really noticeable unless under harder acceleration and over 30-35mph. The sound is not affected by application of brakes but I could also hear the noise as I was pulling into my garage moving slowly in the driveway...

Recently I have replaced the Rear trailing arm bushings and rear shocks. I had one of the rear wheel bearings replaced a few years ago.

It's either going to be the (other) wheel bearing or one of the CV axles. Take a peek at the CV axle boots. If one is torn, that'll be a likely suspect.

I'm under the car right now and the CV boots look ok. When I pull back and forth on them there is some play but not sure if that is normal. Also, the exhaust shield is really lose since the places where its bolted too have corroded enough to loosen the shield so I'm imrpovising with some zip ties

That's good, because I was going to suggest it was a soon-to-be grenaded CV axle, too.
