New radiator

After 213k mi on the stock radiator it has started leaking on the passenger side where the metal core meets the plastic housing.

I ordered a Silla all aluminum radiator from Andys autosports for $114.00 with s/h. I figure if it cracks I can always re-weld it. It should be here Tuesday or wednesday and I'll give a quick down and dirty review.

I thought I read somewhere they come with a limited lifetime warranty but not 100% sure, I am not over concerned since I can always just re-weld any cracks. I will be sure to take plenty of pics and write a good description of it. My radiator is shot and didn't have more than about $150 to spend so I figured I would give the Silla a go.

The only bad reviews I read were that some of the fittings for the automatic transmission were either to big or to small. My 325 is manual so I won't be able to confirm if it's true or not. But for $86.67 I can overlook a few things.

That's strange - when I pull up the available radiators for a 328 on Silla's website, the only option is a standard configuration radiator with aluminum core and plastic tanks. I see the all-aluminum version on Andy's website, however.

Re: New radiator

I noticed that too. Hopefully by tuesday I'll have some answeres. After looking at their site and not seeing the all aluminun for my 325i also Iam a little worried about what I will get in the mail.

Im always a little hessitant about ordering from Andy's. They don't have very good product descriptions and thier prices seem to good to be true on some stuff. Like two years back I ordered a front strut brace for $20.

It fit fine and is still on the car but you never know these days.

Even though Silla doesn't show fit for the 325 and the Andy's add lists it as for the 323, I think you're going to be OK. bmwfans.info shows the same part number for the radiator for the 323 and your 325 and the same core width of 550 mm.

Re: New radiator

Looks like we won't find out. I emailed Andys because I never recieved a shipping invoice. They told me that they had not heard from their vendor yet and they thought it wouldn't be till Friday at the earliest. Then add in shipping of 7 days and I was looking at close to two weeks. I cancelled and just bought a "Speedy racer" aluminum radiator off ebay.

Re: New radiator

It has "speed" and "race" in the name. I bet it not only drops my temp down to a cool 76***176; but also adds 15hp to!

But honestly, I'am a certified welder so if a weld cracks I'll just being it to the shop and re-weld it. And I'm not out a huge sum ($130).

Re: New radiator

So i got my new aluminum radiator off ebay yesterday. Overall view, the welds didnt look half bad, everything down to the holes for the fan shroud were in the right spot and over all finish wasnt bad. I only paid $150 shipped.
