Let's take the M6, already a car that is much too heavy, and make it AWD! The extra weight can't hurt, can it?

Wow, that's so cool that you can tell us the weight of a car that hasn't been built yet!

Thanks, it's a talent I have developed over the years through extensive practice, much like your use of sarcasm (;

But seriously, is AWD really something people want in ///M cars? I've never gotten that vibe from people.

Well I'm pretty indifferent to it, will have to wait and drive it before I comment on it, but I would guess that there are quite a few that would want it, and for a variety of reasons. As an option, what's the bid deal anyway?

What was the big deal about the F30? People still made a big fuss about it. BMW drivers don't like change... Haha

I have nothing but pity for those that don't like or won't accept change, so many missed opportunities to find something new that they may actually like.

I don't really have the time, still trying to find out more about these cars that aren't even built yet.

EDIT: I actually had an E90, 335 Sport/6MT, super fun car, super terrible DD, at least for me. Part of the path to the F13, which is as much fun (but different) and a great DD.

Mein Auto: '14 BMW M6 & M-B ML63AMG
I think that BMW will follow Mercedes-Benz, who in turn followed Audi, and will ultimately offer various M-series vehicles with an all-wheel drive option. Most people in the northeast US now realize that all-wheel drive makes sense for a daily driver vehicle and not just for a SUV.
Look at the M-B E63s AMG wagon.... 0-62 in 3.6 seconds! Obviously, there is no sacrifice of performance with all-wheel drive and a powerful engine... Also, look at the RS2... it smokes almost every other high performance vehicle, other than a Veyron, etc.

This is all about sales and not any sort of M-series heritage.
BMW does not want to loose sales to M-B or Audi on various high-performance vehicles and I am very confident that they will begin to offer all-wheel drive on selected M-series vehicles over the next 3-4 years in order to remain competitive.

In 2016, my next vehicle, whatever make and model it may be, will have all-wheel drive and it will also be really quick!

BMW will do whatever will yield them the greatest profit, whatever that may be.

I agree on weight but also the car makes too much power as is for RWD only plus the fact that most of us in the upper northern hemisphere have to deal with snow as well. I think it should be an option for those who want it much like the current 3/4/5/6/7 series that all have it available.
