E46 shift boot ---> same as E36?

I make custom shift boots and had a customer contact me for a boot for his E46. I've never made one for this car before but I've done a bunch for E36, and have E36 frames. If I make him a boot that fits the E36 stuff, will it also fit E46?

I've tried searching for this and I've found many boots that are billed as fitting both, however some have poor reviews stating that the opening in the console is differently sized. Can anyone confirm? The handbrake looks to be very similar also.

Also, if someone wants to be daring and send me their boots (still attached to the frame) I will replace it for an extreme discount and return the original. I just need something to get dimensions from and test the fit with.

Frame is different, one side will be too short if you make it off the E36 frame. I can get you an E46 frame and boot for a template for if you wish from my buddies junkyard. Not more than $20

I'm in if you can get both shifter and handbrake boots/frames.

I have some tan ones I need to unload. I may hunt down new ones to replace my scrotum-like boots. Want 'em?

Before I commit, I'll have to check to see if I still have the frames. I can't remember if I used them on the new boots.

I would take the leather off your hands even if the frames don't come with.

Edit: if you'd like, I can make you a set. I have pics of all the materials I'm currently stocking in the thread linked in my sig.

Anyone have a boot set they would be interested in selling? Condition is unimportant as long as the frames are included.

I'm interested in developing a boot for this model and would even trade a boot set to borrow boots and frames.

I want to make a custom shift boot for my E36 318ti, do you think you could give me the dimensions of the pieces I'll need? As I don't have an old boot to reference. Since you've done many of them maybe you have it memorized.
