Gray Metallic X1, 3 cameras and quest for fall color in the west

Like all weekend trips to Reno seem to end, I was out of fun money and it was time to go!

But I had some extra time, a full tank of gas and three cameras with fresh batteries in the X, so it was time to take the scenic way home.

I headed south out of Reno on the relatively new I-580 that runs to Carson City. I've been watching them build this road, including this impressive bridge for years.

Continuing on 395 south, there was some nice scenery at Topaz Lake on the Nevada California border.

Then a short drive past the lake until the 395/4-89 Junction. Here is where the real fun begins!

Monitor Pass is kind of high desert with a splash of pine and aspen forest thrown in as you climb to the 8000 foot summit. The X felt right at home on this nearly empty stretch of highway that morning.

I almost wished I was in a Z4 with the top down!

Due to time, I had to use 89, which isn't bad, but not as fun as 4

Heading back toward the Tahoe basin

The road ahead and to the right is 89, which heads to Tahoe, I headed straight on Kit Carson Pass toward Stockton and home.

All in all, it was a fantastic morning, and another great outing in the X1. This car is everything I hoped it would be and more. I can't wait to bring it back up this way in a couple of months and try it out in the snow! For now though, one last splash of fall color!

Love 0056, with the fall colors and the snow.

The X1 looks wicked in all the shots. Very Impressive.

VERY Nice pics. I haven't been there in 30 years. It hasn't changed much in that time.

Thanks Guys! This car is so much fun to take on road trips. It's not my daily driver and I still already have over 6k miles on it. And now I have a 5D3 coming for more picture taking adventure

Beautiful photos and excellent build. That is nearly identical to the ED order I am planning to place in the spring. Grey xLine looks like the way to go!

Thanks guys!

ED should be great! I'm not thrilled about the whole "Lines" thing, but the X line had the wheel and interior trim I wanted, so I went with it, and have not regretted it one bit. I love the way it looks, and love the way it drives.

Awesome pics! I grew up in Sacramento where my sister still lives and my Dad lives in Grass Valley. Making me want to take a long road trip out there to see them and hit those roads in the area. My wife just purchased a nearly identical X1 this week and we are loving it as well.
