2012 M3 Convertible DCT or 2009 Carrera S Cab with PDK

Deciding between the two. Price is nearly indentical. The Carrera S Cab has PDK with the sports chorno plus and 18k miles.

The M3 is a 2012 with 5k miles. The warranty is up on the Porshe but with very low miles.

One issue is the back seat. I need to get a booster in there once in awhile for my six year old and the seats appear to be too narrow in the Porsche to accomodate.

I'll tell you right now the Porsche is the better car.

But not the better daily driver.

I would agree with this statement. Our E90 M3 is a better DD than would be our 911 GTS, but I prefer to have a Tahoe for DD duties and the Porsche just for fun.

The M3 is a softer ride and much more functional rear seats. This would be a third car, we have a GL and X5 for family duty.

Then you just answered your own question. Porsche for sure!

You'll make the baby seat fit eventually, don't worry(;

Both our M3 and 911 have adjustable shocks, but your right, the M3 has a more compliant suspension, especially if you're dealing with poorly maintained roads.

The M3 has seats that can actually be used by younger kids or for baby seats, although, many Porsche 911 owners do cram their young kids in their back seats. I think Porsche also makes a baby seat that fits into a rear seat.

IMO, consider the Porsche your personal driver's car that you bring your wife along for a ride every once in a while.

The Porsche will be more reliable in the long haul, but what do you want from the car? Do you need usable back seats? I love how the 911 drives. The M3 will have BMW's ultimate maintenance and you also have the S65 which is just a gem of an engine. You have to let us know what you're going to be using the car for and what your needs are.

I think i am going with the M3 vert. It is a 2012 with only 5k miles and 3 years left on the warranty. The 911s cab is out of warranty effective 9/30/13 and, even though only 18k miles, had two owners and a few appearances at the dealership for engine module checked/horn replaced/computer reprogrammed etc..

I don't need to jump into a car with electronic gremlins and no warranty.
