How long did your X3 stay at the "Production Begins" stage?

It's not moving fast enough

Soon...

Really?

What time frame were you given? I was told about 4 weeks and the order was placed last Wednesday so another 3 weeks I guess

Yes. However, calling the BMW number and giving your production number may give you better info. It did for me.

Mine only took 4 days to go from "In production" to "Finishing touches". The sales person can get more detailed status, there are a lot more intermediate steps.

It will be completed within 5 days then will await release to carrier. Your dealer can look up real time status via Dealerspeed. I ordered mine on 8/2, into production on 9/5, completed production on 9/12, on truck same day and at my dealer in NJ on 9/16 and in my driveway 9/17!

In 2010, when I ordered my X5, got it in record time. Ordered on a Friday, into production Monday, completed that Friday and in my driveway that Tuesday. Start to finish 12 days.

It's usually 5days to build the car and a lot longer to ship it. They will only ship your car when the truck is full carrying cars to your dealer. Mine took about 1 month also.

Not entirely true. If they are going in same location i.e. 5 dealers in the NJ/NY region, they will stop. No dealer gets a shipment of like 10 cars at one time. How do I know this? My brother in law works for a BMW dealer in PA.

Now if your car is going West of the Mississippi, obv a longer travel time. But from SC to NJ for the past 5 BMW's, it has averaged for me 5 days from factory completion to dealer.

You're right. I just got off the phone with my CA and she says the car will be there on Monday So ordered last Thursday to dealer delivery on Monday, about 11 days including 2 weekends. Not bad

My wife drove the x3 to work for the first time yesterday.... We brought it home in Saturday..... We haven't sold her Audi yet.

She had two reasons:
1. She didn't want to ding it or get it dinged in her office parking garage (she is parking now on the 7th floor to avoid other cars)
2. She doesn't want her coworkers to know...

That heated steering wheel and new car smell made me threaten to drive the car to the train station - where dings and scratches happen a lot.. So she is putting it to use now

Sounds like my wife too. My wife will probably park at a different zip code to avoid dings and scratches
