03 X5 MID issue (NOT PIXEL RELATED)

I think this has been covered before but I cannot find the relevant posts, hence the repost.

I unplugged the MID to fix the pixels. I plugged it back in and it doesn't work. I tested my MID in another X5 and it works fine but in mine it only works for 1 minute then cuts out all audio. I swapped it with my buddies X5 MID and his doesn't work in my car either. All through this, the display doesn't light up.

I have checked all three fuses (one in glovebox, two in the cargo area) and unplugged/checked/reseated all without any luck.

I have disconnected the battery for 15 minutes to no avail. I checked the battery voltage and it is showing 13.7V (checked via instrument cluster display).

Any other thoughts guys?

Got it fixed - stored fault code for "no connection to MID". Had the dealer clean it out and reset it at no charge.

so when you unplug the mid did you start the x5 after ?, is that what triggered the code fault?

Yes that is exactly what happened. I had taken it out to fix the pixels and was trying to check for them when I turned the car on. Lesson learnt...
