New X5 owner here saying Hi with some photos

Hello all,

Posted over at Xbimmers, but I get the sense that this is a more active X5 community, so I thought I'd say "Hello" here too.

I've been a 1 series, 3 series, and M3 owner for many years now, and I've finally made the move to the X5 for the growing family. Here's what I picked up:

2012 xDrive35i Premium CPO (in service 11/11) with
Platinum Gray/Oyster/Burl Walnut
Convenience, Cold Weather, 3rd Row, BMW Apps, Satellite

45k miles, 1 owner, no accidents, bought and maintained at Circle BMW (where I bought it), outside and inside look like new.

Kbb and Edmunds both valued around $43.7k for the CPO. Picked it up for $39k. I'm a little disappointed it didn't have the SAV package; I really wanted those sport seats and style 214 wheels. But finding one of those with the 3rd row and colors I liked was near to impossible for a good deal, so I gave up and bought this one. I wasn't nuts about so many miles, but 45k miles in 20 months means the vast majority of them must have been easy highway miles anyway, and it had what I really wanted. Based on some of the other deals I hear about here, I'm starting to think maybe this wasn't the best find, but I'm very happy with the truck so far regardless.

Some photos (please excuse the car seat ) I'm absolutely loving the color combo!

Congrats! I have the same ext. color and I think it's really unique in a sense that the car looks different under different lighting conditions. Welcome!

Congrats, My car is exactly same except black interior.. mine is all oyster... since Aug 2011 I drove 25K...
Only issue I see is cleaning, it gets dirty with little rain, don;t talk about rims, they will turn black just after couple of days after detailing..

Thanks. They're Michelin Latitude Tour HP ZP (rft). Oem I think. They look almost new based on tread depth, and the prod dates on them are as recent as 4412.

Welcome. I think you will enjoy the vehicle. I have same model year. I like the rims. Are you thinking of running snows? Seems like you are in the NE area. I'm in heavy snow area in NY and travel so it really isn't an option most seasons. One more thing... the detailing from the dealer is nice. The car looks its best right now, but if it's like mine in a few weeks, it will be a mess. I detail once a year. Really give inside and outside the extra attention and the X5 looks great. Good luck and keep posting your experience with the vehicle. Thanks.

Wow, so they made an all oyster interior, as opposed to my oyster with black trim and carpeting? That's awesome. Do you have any pics?

Great points. I don't think I've ever detailed a vehicle this big, but I'm a big car care nut, so it'll get the same treatment my M3 used to get and my 135i does now. P21S wash and Mequire's NXT sealant each wash, claybar 1-2 times a year. P21S wheel cleaner. Leatherique Prestine Clean and Rejuvenator treatment on the leather, and only water on the dash and other trim bits.

Picking up a set of rubber floor mats tomorrow! I'm debating buying the OEM rear seat cover to fully protect against the car seats. Seems inexpensive enough and it's even got the 60/40 split. The only thing I'm undecided about is whether to get a shorty all weather mat for the trunk for 3rd row seats upright position, or the full length one for when they're down...

I have to use a step ladder to clean and wax the roof which complicates the job, but the pano sunroof removes a lot of the painted surface that is hard to get to. Other than that, it really does not take that much more time to detail than sedans / coupes. The interior is really easy to clean too.

I made an offer on an oyster interior X5. It was sharp but I was concerned about the blue dye from jeans discoloring the seats. The deal fell through and I ended up with cinnamon interior which was my top choice given that I always always have jeans on and take my dogs running on trails in all kinds of weather with the X5, but the oyster was very classy.

Enjoy!

I have light grey seats on my 330ci and had blue dye from jeans color the seats. It would come off with leather clear, so I went with black seats on the X5. To each his own, but I do like the seats and combo above.
