Finishing touches

Hi Members- just noticed yesterday that my x5 jumped from in production (last Friday) to finishing touches (yesterday). Wondering how long thereafter it will be at the dealer in CA? Also why did it jump so fast over the weekend from one state to the next. Thanks.

My x5 also jumped from In Production to Finishing Touches, skipping End of Production. From what I gather from the forums, the online tool is usually a couple of days behind real-time status.

For example, my X5 arrived at the dealership last night, but the online tool still shows "Finishing Touches".

Hmm, strange. Possibly because it is a diesel and has special order items.

@kankou thanks...actually I just called BMW's 800 number and they indicated that it left on a train yesterday to sunny CA. It is for a X5 sport activity model....will it take a week?

the train goes to oxnard, then your car sits until a truck is available to haul it to your dealership. IIRC, it seems to take about 2 weeks for cali owners to receive their X5s after production is finished.

i'm in texas, so the X5 actually gets trucked directly from spartanburg.

Just took delivery of my X5 i35 in Seattle. One week in paperwork, one week in production and two weeks for delivery. The website still shows it in the Final Touches stage, but it's in my garage. My SA was able to tell me when it was on the train and when it was transfered to truck. The website was useless.
