BMW Coding in Houston, TX

Found a guy who does coding for around $100 if anyone is interested. Thought I'd share the love since it took me so long to find someone local!

There are also a bunch of "amature" coders in Houston too. Check the coding discussion forum and start with Shawn.

We did a big meet and code last year in June. Maybe its time to put another one together here.

I hate to sound dumb, but what benefit does 'coding the car' provide?

Gives you cool things like DVD in motion, auto folding mirrors, etc.. There's a list floating around of the common codes done, V/r, Tim.

they all fall into the convenience bin.
the mirrors fold in when you lock the car
doors unlock when you shut off engine
single pull door handles
actual air pressure on display
radio shuts off when you open the doors
elimination of all the warnings, ie the nav warning, seat belts ( driver is actually responsible for his/her car)
you can watch dvd's on the move ( ok that one is dumb), I can't figure out the concept now of watching a dvd while parked on a 6 inch screen- Skip the 60 inch TV honey, i'm going out to the garage to watch this on my car.)

Thanks. I used to be here a lot when I first got the car in 9/09, and I remember a thread where they said in Europe the trunk open button on the fob would open AND close the trunk. Is that one of the 'features'?

yes it is, as well as opening and closing all the windows

Office Integration feature and BMW Apps

I have a 2011 750 Li with Nav and Blue Tooth, but apparently, my car was built 2 months before the real office integration with iphone was done. Dealership (BMW North) telling me car cannot be upgraded and that I cannot use BMW Apps. I find this hard to believe since I have bluetooth integration already (the hardware). It is software people.

Does the coding help with that?

How do I find "Nison"...want to get my car updated. New here and still trying to navigate the forum.

Thanks for the help and the patience with a new member - Tim.

Hi Tim - Congrats on the car and welcome to the forums.

Yes it is software but the right hardware must also be present in the car to support the functionality.
Could you PM the last 7 of your VIN, I'll look your car to see what combox you have installed.

Hopefully we can code BMW Apps for you and we can do it remotely over the internet (I am in NYC).

BMW Coding in Houston, TX

So I picked up a 2014 328i sport line 6 speed manual sedan and I've been wondering how to "code" my car to watch videos while in motion (not DVDs). Any idea if this messes up other parts of the car? And if not how do you code? I am in canada thanks

Hi - No it doesn't, it doesn't void the warranty and it doesn't get in the way of regular maintenance/ service work at the dealer.

PM sent.

Saw it on the coding list for the F10 so it should work on ours. Still haven't had my cable delivered yet, but I was scoping out the codes to plan out what to do

I don't know if there's a cheat sheet for the F01, but here's the F10 everyone just uses:

Are you able to do remote coding still? Also, what is the contact info for this guy in Houston?
