A Tale of Two Bumpers:

Although the rear bumper on my E34 looked OK on the car, it had a 1 pound plug of bondo and screen-door wire on the RR corner. (Photo 1)

I replaced it with a decent $25.00 used bumper from Pik-N-Pull...(Photo 2)

So keeping up looking for a GM i just found some threads online that say all GM are interchangeable, the difference is the features programmed to each as in auto up/down, auto locking....etc
Have you tried any other GM's?

No I haven't. Some GM's are different in that they have different color plug ins and, I think, a different pin configuration.

My '571' has a Green/Yellow/White plug configuration....

I have found only a few without that color config. Even online and in my car and mine i 373 or something like that. The only thing i found that would be diffent would be the options programmed to that GM for that car, so if you find one ending in 571 it still may not be exactly the same. If you have access to one that will plug in try it. From what i read it either works or does not work. And the occasional feature not there(one touch windows) I now will look for one in a 7-series to have one touch for all my windows, and auto locking. I read a few threads where people tried it with success.

The only ones I have found have a different plug in configuration, not from an E34

Try an E32, what is your year? Looking at a few things to compare. Also may look at trying to repair yours.

Instead of jacking the other thread i will bring this back here.
Have you read these...?
http://www.bimmernut.com/forum/5-ser...al-module.html
http://www.bimmernut.com/forum/elect...-lkms-too.html
I could not find what the differences were other than the PN, all it says is that they are programed with the options for that car. But all are interchangeable, even E32.

Cold weather has really slowed down the pace for refinish. Need 70F for good quality and the booth is always 15F cooler due to the air circulation. It warmed up this week and we FINALLY painted the last 4 pieces; front bumper, rear bumper, grill frame and fuel door....

Bert we atta get together sometime, Bimmerfest 2014 maybe?

And in all seriousness, would you ever consider letting me pay you to do a simple respray for me? Id be very interested in a quote.. Im looking to get the cosmetics done mainly this year. PM me if interested..

Im just over whelmed with envy of your gorgeous paint job..! Body work is my achillies heel of auto work!

I so would if i could!! I just run flat out of talent when i hit body work

About the temp issue, looks as if you have pro booth OMG LOL!

Can you not just run a tiny space heater in the corner to keep it 75~ degrees?

You say "re-spray" as in all the body/prep work is done????

When we painted my E34, we masked off everything, because I wasn't concerned about doing a full emblem/door handle/moulding removal, but you have to sand around all these things with a plastic knife and a Scotch-Brite pad. IF done RIGHT (this is critical) everything looks like the car was totally taken apart.

We alos allowed the cra to dry for 45 days before color sanding and buffing. This gives a perfect, show-quality finish that never shrinks and reveals sand scratches.

It's time consuming, but, in theory, you could drive the car for a couple of months and then buff it all out.

E-mail me when you can and we will discuss in more detail...
