Water collecting in rear door sills

After good rains or a carwash, if I open either of the rear doors on my X5 about a 1/2 cup of water spills out and more is sitting on the sill. The water is often there even if the first time I open the doors after a rain or carwash is a day or more later.

This can't be good for long term integrity of the metal parts of the doorsill. Is this common/normal? Shouldn't there be a way for the water to drain off the sill?

WOW. I made the same post and observation last month after a hard rain and not using the X5 for a week. Same issue with rear passenger door. Ran it by the dealer and they said it was normal. Folks on this forum thought sun roof drain clog or vapor liner (plastic sheeting between door card and actually steel door came unglued. I keep watching, and posted photos of the weather stripping being soaked like a sea sponge. No really solutions yet.
