Random acceleration & dashboard

Hey guys I'm new here and as many other before me I'm seeking advice about a problem, so lets get to it .

So I've had some really random accelerations when I'm slowing down the car, like for example going from 3d gear to 1st by slowly breaking and not stepping on the gas at all. It would be best explained like some1 stepped on the throttle really quickly but not like really hard, like 1500 rpm.

This is really annoying and almost had me crash into the garage door one day when I was parking.

Another good explaination would be: It's similiar jerking motion like when you see a new driver driving a manual car and kills the engine but in this instance it does not kill the engine.

And yes the car is: Bmw e65/66 745i 2002

Random acceleration & dashboard

I don't think this is an acceleration problem. It sounds like your transmission is downshifting and the engine is just matching revs.

There's a programming update for the transmission. If start there.

Re: Random acceleration & dashboard

I had something similar once. Check behind the brake pedal there is switch there it gets stuck sometimes. Check in your back mirror if your brake lights stay on when trying to accelerate. If they do then its that switch. New one is about 30 bucks.

Cheers,

Ray
