Anyone tried MrPaintChip? Just received my order

I'm a little tentative about trying it out. It looks easy as hell but don't want to screw it up. Do I REALLY just brush it on, wipe it off, wait a minute and then use that other liquid to clean it up? Seems way to easy.

Perhaps you want to try it first on the inside of a door panel?

I have been using it for years. My M3 front end is pretty beat to hell from 10 years of highway driving. I have used Dr. Color Chip on the front fascia, hood, mirrors and a couple of door dings.

Just don't try to do too many at once as it dries pretty quickly. You need time to smooth and buff it out. But yes it really is that easy. And it looks great on my Carbon Black. Haven't tried it on any lighter colors.

Easy stuff. I did it on a metallic blue beamer and applied it just as sloppy as they show you to on the video. Wipes right off and leaves enough in the pits to fill the chips - just make sure you get all of it off the undamaged areas with that solution as it can leave a haze. Clean the areas to painted first with some isopropyl so youre not just painting over wax. There was a fairly larger scrape on my rear bumper of my 11 and i was even able to cover most of that with it. Just took a lot of coats.

Edit: Anyone with a jet black that wants my leftover kit, hit me up. Mostly full container. Until I have a full-time staff member to wash my cars I'm never buying jet black anything again....what a struggle.

Double Edit: In reference to your comment about wiping it off - you're not really supposed to wipe it off right away. You brush it on, then SMEAR it over the areas to flatten it out and spread it within the chips. Then after a certain amt of time you wipe with that clothe and solution.

I've used it and it works. Best on smaller chips.

It's funny that this thread popped up. My 335is just got blasted by a ton of pebbles from our awesome roads here in NY. Looks like a shotgun went off on my bumper! From what I've read these "systems" don't work that well on metallic paint. I thought about going to my local dealer and asking them who spruces up their CPO cars.

I would do this.

It's a wonder how economically priced some of those guys are. But then again, they make their money on the volume and repeat business. They can do wonders on interiors as well.

I wonder if you repeat the process over the same chip a few times if it won't eventually fill the hole

It works fine on metallic. I'm not even that good at DIY and I couldn't find most of the chips when I tried. Stick with this brand (DrColorChip) as I'm sure they're not all the same. The dealer is pretty much crap at anything paint or detail related. They'll probably have someone out there with a tube of touch up paint using the little brush and I'm sure it won't come out as smooth as this does.

I stumbled into a guy at my wife's jag dealer. he fixes roadrash on cars on the lot for the dealers, I got his card and called him recently. he is coming out to my house and doing several cars at once. he said about 125 for a hood. need to find one of these guys.

I've noticed a lot of dealers in my area (DMV) use a mobile service for this kind of thing. You describing it like a "shotgun blast" causes me to think that the area of damage is substantial, in which case you might want to consider a repaint at a body shop. Cost would be around $500. Regardless of the choice you make for repair, I highly recommend installing a clear bra afterwards.

Just contacted my detail guy and he said the same thing about the clear bra.

I might try the clear bra. I know they make one you can spray on but not sure if it works well. Thanks everyone for the posts. I'll try to take before and after pics when I'm done f*cking up my car.

Dlf the stuff comes right off with the solutuion. Ive tried it on 4 cars and each time was different. On my orient blue e39 it worked great on the hood. On a few small but deep chips its never stuck into the chip after wiping and buffing.

well, just went out to wipe down the hood to paint the chips and I don't see any real chips. Weird. There are some "chips" but it looks like there's still paint in it. I'll wait until it dries and see if there's anything to fill.
