2013/14 Models - Question

Current 2008 X3 owner. Have been looking over the F25s on the lot a bit lately and noticed the lining inside the wheel wells.

What are they making the liner inside the wells out of now? Traditionally plastic - they now look almost like a cloth/fiber material (similar to trunk linings, etc.)

Is it difficult to clean or magically repel mud, dirt, road grime?

I don't think it is anymore difficult to keep clean than other vehicles I have had with a non-fabric-like liner. It hoses right off and I just go over it with a sponge when I'm doing the wheels.

Yeah, I worried about that too, but doesn't seem to be a problem. Our 2011 with 30K miles has plastic liners on the front half of the front wheel wells and the cloth-like material on the back side. The rear wheel well is all cloth. I've spayed water on it and even scrubbed it (gently) with no apparent wear or damage, so guess that, whatever it is, it's pretty durable.
