What's your X5 35d highway rpm's?

I have a 2013 35d. My highway rpms at 120 km/hr is 2100. Seems/sounds like engine should be dropping down a gear to run at lower rpms at this speed, in comparison to my 330ci coupe. What's your rpm's at 120 km/hr?

If you dropped down a gear you would run at higher, not lower RPM's. The diesel develops torque at low RPM's, and the trans in "D" is calibrated for MPG as much as performance. This is intended. You can run it anywhere you want in manual, or at higher RPM's in "S." I agree that the CAFE-driven calibrations make for occasional sluggishness. Do what feels good. The truck, if not the planet, will be fine.

I think mine is around 2000 to 2250 rpm in 6th gear. 2100 sounds about right. I have the 6-speed auto tranny.

That's where mine is at 75MPH. Why would you think it's a problem?
