Subtle changes to Rear

A couple weeks ago I was parked and a pickup truck pulled in behind me and hit my rear bumper. Nothing major, just some scratches the broke the clear coat. The jack ass decided to hit and run. Luckily for me two people saw him do it and the police made him come back to the scene of the crime. I was so pissed I almost pulled out my RWS and beat him with it.

While in the body shop, I had them paint in Black Sapphire Metallic my “750 Li”, the chrome strip across the back, the orange reflector, the diffuser, and the exhaust tips. Turned out pretty nice so I thought I would post some pic’s.

Before:

After:

Sorry the pic's suck.

I like it. Nice and smooth look.

One problem with having these baller rides is that when people hit them they probably use the "a $500 deductible means less to the owner than it does to me" mentality to rationalize leaving the scene. Was he charged with anything?

Looks good, although I would have painted the black chrome winglets to match the dark gray for contrast, instead of painting everything black. Also the reverse lights can be tinted so that you have a continuous black line across the trunk. Those clear lens look out of place.

Audio: focal separates, earthquake low profile subs under front seats (crossed over as mid base to support the pathetic 4" fronts), arc audio amps, audiocontrol lcq-1 and epicenter, (2) L7 subs.

Looks good. Prefer it debadged however.

Also should have mounted a weatherproof RWS to the trunk for maximum effect.

This is a classic example of the curse of the RWS.

why would you paint it the same color?? now it looks like the classic cheap body shop that didn't remove any parts before they sprayed it. as long as youlike it.

My $.02

It looks good.

Although I am NOT one to paint over any factory cars reflectors because too many "blind dipshyts" out there, especially at night!

I disagree with my boy CAbimmer on even touching the 'reverse lights'! Again... I don't believe in 'sacrificing safety over aesthetics'.

Glad it worked out.

I got mine painted, since my rear lights are always on with the rear DRL setting.

As for the reverse lights, they don't really do much, especially with just a light coat, and the help of the camera.

BUT, to each their own.

I hear what you are saying but didn't you cover over your side reflectors? And I guess depending on where you live, it could be a concern. Here in So Cal, even at night it is ridiculously bright. I don't even need high beams, haven't clicked them on in years.

Yup. Side reflectors covered. Called out on that one! Looks like TX is going to have to give up his RWS.

Interesting, did you debadge and then rebadge, just painted black? I personally prefer debadging BUT if you're going to have the 750iL, i like them blacked out, looks good.

I was planning on leaving the diffuser the gray that it was. When I got to the body shop, the manager said they painted it because they felt it looked better. I can take it either way now that I see it. Looks much better in real life than in these crappy pics. DFL750, I did have it debagged, then decided to have them paint the numbers and see how it looks. Painted black, it doesn’t jump out, and again I am fine with it.

Haha!!!! Sadly.... My chariot is lacking one as well. I forgive her because during my search for this specific color combo for an 'i', took me a couple months and still had to ship her from PA to TX!

It does seem very odd that you dislike the reflectors enough to photoshop but not to actually cover them. They make a reflective white vinyl that you could cover them with. I have my logos for my truck printed on them and they are crazy bright at night when light hits them. I didn't use it caus it's a tad off white, but might match yours perfect.

Nice Richard, I like the blacked out look, and damn on getting hit... At least it wasn't your kid in an intersection again! And I second the wanting to know if they charged douchey mcdoucherson with anything or did they just force him to turn his info over?

7Eleven on the e65 board, when he had his 7, modded everything with ACS parts he could and then made his own badge in RED, think it was ACS7 instead of 750i, it actually looked kinda cool.
