Power Seat Backs not moving, motor running

Hi,

My L6 has these 12 way adjustable comfort seats and right now, neither seat back moves. The driver side seat would move on one side, and the other side stayed still. How do I fix this? Do I need new cables? If so, where can I get them? The motors are running when the switch is depressed.

Got It Working

What I did was to remove the cables out of the housing and put some wadded up pieces of aluminum foil and reinserted the cable. The pieces keeps the cable from coming out of the worm gear on the sides of the seat. I found a post where the guy cut some coat hanger 1/3" or so and inserted that, but I thought the foil would be more forgiving.

Time will tell if it is a long term fix.

I like your tinfoil idea better. Hope it lasts a long time.

Short seat cable fix

I had the same problem of the cable being too short. My fix was to grab the ferule with needle nose pliers, heat it with a lighter and pull and it comes off. Then cut 3/8 inch off the end, use needle pliers to bend indents back, place back on cable, push indents back in with an awl. Works great.

I already had my seats out. I'm sure that they need to come out. Just remove the side trim and remove the gear box.. It might be a good idea to clean and lube the cable, mine were real gunked up. Do one at a time to make sure gears mesh properly.
