Prewired for power and heated seats?

Does anyone know if a 1997 318i that has manual seats might have a wire harness that is already installed to run power and heated seats? I know manufactures sometimes use the same main harness on all trim levels to save costs.

It is my son's car who doesn't live with me so I can't just go out and look, and I would like to know before I possibly buy a set of clean E46 seats that are powered with memory and heat. I would also need to buy the switches and am wondering if the harness is also already in the console where the switches mount.

I know it is possible to wire up almost anything, I'm just curious to how much would have to be done from scratch.

Re: Prewired for power and heated seats?

318s are not prewired for power seats, that much I know, but I've only had one E36 without heated seats and it's the only one I haven't gone tearing into the dash/ under the carpet of so I can't speak to the heat.... Plus that one's a ti, and they're weird in a lot of ways.

Getting power for the seat motors is really easy. All you have to do is run power from the cigarette lighter to the seat. Here is a guide by Joey at goes into more detail about the swap As for getting power for the heated seats off the top of my head I do not know the best way for you to do this. My car came with heated seats, so for me it was just a matter of connecting the wires from the car to the seat.

//1992 Mazda Miata - cat delete, power windows, oil filter relocation
