Talking possible e46 purchase

hey everyone,

I am new to the forum.

one of my friend is selling her BMW M3 04 (BLK)

this is a Canadian car

156,000 km reported on it, no accidents, maintained for all scheduled intervals. (am I purchasing it at a bad time? looking at a lot of repairs down the road?)

asking price is 11k - comes with winter tires.

what do you guys think? this is my first bemmer usually drove audi - but want a change and BMW is the way to go.

how is the RWD with winter tires in snow? - am I going to die?

thanks looking for feedback

regards

biz

Ur Choice

I'm in Alberta and drove my E46 328Ci for years with winter tires. Nothing cheap - go with the best. In my opinion - Nokians. Never stuck, never lost control.
Shifters in the winter are a little tricky. As long as you don't use the tranny to help slow down, you should be fine. Slippery conditions and down shifting aren't exactly recommended- unless you're on an open road and want to experience the rear end getting loose.

I know the auto's won't down shift. Even when I drove mine in the manual mode, as soon as the DSC kicked in, the gear changed up so I wouldn't loose the rear end. If you are careful and don't drive like it's summer, then go ahead. No idea how the DSC in the M's work in winter if the car is an SMG.

I've got an '04 M3 vert 6sp manual which is parked as of this weekend.
