E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

Lots of work need help..have not driven for two weeks

Ok so I need tie rods, struts, and rear brakes with rotors...I was quoted in the area of 6-700 bucks. I'm on a budget but should I Upgrade? Perhaps upgraded brakes..higher end struts maybe? I have an auto convertible..it's my daily driver so what can I do to make it more fun? And so certain brands make that much of a difference? Honestly I would be happy to have a car the rides smooth again. Also anyone know of any deals or should I just rely on what the mechanic gets as far as parts are concerned?
Thanks in advance

Could be at that price he's using after market. Do you mean the front suspension part containing the coil spring when you say strut? I haven't priced those lately but they're not cheap. I don't think any mod in those parts would make your car more fun to drive. OEM parts if bought at a discount house might be a way to go - I'd ask the guy what kind of parts he's using.

the only thing there worthy of upgrading is the struts. but youve gotta change springs in order to get that performance out of them. since it the rear brakes, no need slappin cross drilled or slotted rotors cause they only provide 30% of stopping power. front brakes are a different story. IMO stick with oem replacement stuff for now

Maybe see how much more your mechanic will charge to install Bilstein HDs they will give the car a better/sport ride without changing the springs. They're just a bit stiffer than stock struts if you replace the rears as well it will really make a difference .As for the rest of the parts OEM is the way to go.The OEM struts are Sachs/Boge and usually cost almost as much as the Bilsteins.(retail)
