X3 F25 2014 Bluetoth and ConnetedDrive Issues iPhone 5s

In a desperate attempt to get answers, I reach out to you bimmer fans.

I just got my wife a 2014 X3 28i with iDrive and no nav.
On the steering wheel, there is a voice command button that does absolutely nothing.
I can pair my iPhone 5s and an iPhone 5 to make/receive calls, but the button still doesn't work.
My local service center doesn't have a clue. The salesperson says he will teach me how to do use when I take it back to the dealer.
The BMW US customer service line are clueless with the issue as well.
I have a 328i M-Package w/o iDrive and the button works fine.
Ive gone through all the setting w/o luck

On top of that, can't get the ConnectedDrive app to work.
Plugging both phones with the Apple lightning cable does nothing.
Using the supplied y-cable and both of the Apple 30-pin to lightning adapters, does a bit more, (at least runs the connection test 3/4 of the way but fails the same way)
At least with the y-cable and the adapters, I can stream music form iTunes, iTunes Radio and Pandora.
The technician says is an issue with iOS 7?!?!?

Any ideas?

Hi
Which option you have 6NH or 6NS? I have 6NH and no voice command functionality.

If you don't know, chances are you don't have it.

Go to bmwvin.com and sign up and type in the last digits of your vin. It will spit out every option code in your vehicle. Look for S6NSA (expanded smartphone) and/or S6NHA (hands free bluetooth).

I think (not positive) that 6NS has the hardware to make the voice work

For the Apps issue, do you have options S6NRA (BMW Apps)?

And yes, ios 7 is a pain in the backside to get to work from what I've read on here. Shameless plug: I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and not a single issue. Jus' sayin'

Thanks for the info!!!
I got S6NHA ... So that means I'm screwed!!!
Makes no sense to have the button there if it does nothing!!!! Come on BMW

For the apps I don't see the option.

The worst part is that the sales rep told me it all worked. I'm going back to the dealer.

Sounds like you don't have the option for it. I also have a 5S on iOS 7 and all works as expected without any issues.

Are you using the USB cable or a snap-in?

I was using a cable until the snap-in adapter was available. I use the adapter now.

The Navigation option (609) is required for voice commands. This is because the Nav option not only gives you the navigation software, but the upgraded disk drive (200 GB) to support it and a whole bunch of other technology and audio system features: Voice commands, enhanced Bluetooth connectivity, apps, more storage for music, etc. See http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...Specs/DOT.aspx
which can be downloaded from the current "Features and Specs" page for the X3 28i:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...and_Specs.aspx

In 2014, the only way you can get 6AK, 6AM, 6AP, 6NR and 6NS is to get 609. In 2014, you can only get 609 as a standalone option (Option 609) or as part of the Tech Package (Package ZTP).

Drewsky: I have a 2014 x3 35i (April 2013 build) with the following options:
  • Standard on 35i and 28i in 2014
    • 6AC BMW Assist eCall
    • 6AE BMW TeleServices
    • 6NH Hands-free Bluetooth and USB audio connection
  • Optional in 2014
    • 609 Navigation system, which includes:
      • 6AK BMW Online
      • 6AM Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information
      • 6AP Remote Services
      • 6NR BMW Apps
      • 6NS Enhanced USB and Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration
I have successfully paired and connected without any issue or trouble (I followed the process in the documentation):
  • Apple iPhone 5c IOS 7
  • Apple iPhone 5s IOS 7.0.4
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.2.2
  • Google Nexus 5 Android 4.4.2 (KitKat)
  • Nokia 6235
  • Sony-Ericsson Z520 (ancient flip-phone)
I found Apple products no more or less difficult to pair and connect than Samsung, Nokia, Sony Ericsson or Google (LG) phones.

Voice command comes from the build date of the vehicle being after 7/13 for a F25.

Connected Drive is an installed option that comes with the Technology Package.

Officially, no. BMW does not offer a retrofit. Connected Drive is a subscription-based service that uses a built-in cellular data connection to hook up to BMW's servers. If your VIN is not provisioned for this, you cannot get it: bmw will not provision you for it if they didn't build the vehicle to support it, whether you did any retrofits yourself or not.

S6NHA with iphone 5s :(

Hi

Just purchased a brand new 2014 X3 Xdrive28i and according to the website suggested above, it has the package S6NHA. I own an iphone 5s with IOS 7.1.2 and I cannot even stream music from it via usb (using apple-certified usb cable); I even tried today with the included bmw 30pin usb/aux adapter and an iphone4s and still no go. I have no idea of what I need to do this achieve this "simple" thing

any help? thanks
