X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

BMW X6 front and rear break maintenance

Hi all, I am a newbie to a forum, reaching out to forum members for an advise.

I have 2010 BMW X6 3.5, vehicle is still under BMW warranty/maintenance program, and BMW maintenance is due to end on Jan 14, 2014.

On 12/18/2013, vehicle mileage was 39,246. At the time, vehicle maintenance computer recommend Front Break replacement due in 1,200 miles, rear breaks in 3,000 miles. Dealer tells me front can be replaced under the maintenance program, but BMW wont replace rear breaks until computer says 2,500 miles. Front and rear break lining is at 5mm.

Today is 12/28/13, vehicle mileage 40,523, two weeks after last visit to dealer. Since 12/18, I drove 1,277 miles, and now my vehicle maintenance computer says front breaks due for replacement in 470 miles, rear breaks in 2800 miles. To me it doesn't make sense, it should say Front: 1,200-1,277=-77 miles and Rear: 3,000-1,277=1,723 miles.

My questions are: How does vehicle calculate break replacement intervals? Since my vehicle BMW maintenance ends in 2 weeks, I obviously would like BMW to replace and cover cost of break replacement, but vehicle computer seem not to calculate replacement interval correctly. What are my options? Another dealer? Drive more miles? Please help.
