MSG is a food preservative. If you are new to the car was a PPI performed before purchase? If not I would find a reputable independent BMW mechanic who is well versed in M cars and have it inspected for differed maintenance. Many previously owned M cars have not been properly maintained. refrain from full throttle starts until you confirm the car is safe and functioning properly.

Thanks for the input.

The car drive fine and when I got it only had 29K. I don't smell it as much. My conclusion is that the car has been pampered and hasn't driven very hard.
