E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

will bmw sevice hard wire radar?

Has anyone ever had their BMW dealer hardwire their radar detector for them? I know it would be expensive, but if they will do it, I would feel better about my warranty.

To follow up on my earlier post. I did get my Dealer to hard wire in my radar detector. Cost $100, but they did a great professional job. It makes a huge difference and is worth every penny.
I had pulled the glove box and accessed the fuse panel myself and tried to interprete the enclosed fuse identification chart. To me at least, it looked like I might totally screw something up. Also, access to the fuse panel once you can see it, is extremely tight. So this was one of those deals where it was better to pay the $100.

I had the dealer transfer my hard wire detector from my Z4 to the 135i. It was written into the deal and cost me $0 out of pocket, but I am sure they added some into the cost of the new car.

I just paid $85 to have a very reputable car stereo shop to install mine, it is extremely easy to do, but didn't feel like tearing anything apart. there is no reason why any stereo shop can't do it.

As far as feeling better about your warranty, BMW won't warrant an after market device and they will blame any problem on the device not the installation. Just took my sons Mini Cooper in because his Mini installed i-phone connection wasn't processing commands correctly and their suggestion was buy and install a new one for $400+.
