20" Winter Tires for 2013 650i Gran Coupe

Hi all,

I own a 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe and live in Chicago. Winter tires are a must in these weather conditions and I am here seeking others advice. I hope you can assist with some research.

I am looking for winter tires for this vehicle, however I do not want to switch to a different wheel/rim size. I am looking for 20" winter tires (front 245/35-20 and rear 275/30-20). Do any of have any recommendations where I can find these tires? I have tried Tire Rack, Discount Tire, Midas, etc...

Please let me know your recommended source where I can purchase the tires I am looking for.

Also, do you have any objections as to what I am doing. Please advise.

If you're looking for serious snow traction, I would think the width, particularly on the rears, would be an issue.

Snow Tire Question, also

We have a 2013 650xi GC also and was wondering about the tire width. Do you have to stick with the bigger tires in the rear like the summer performance tires that come with the vehicle or can you install a set of 4 of the same sized tires?

Thanks!

I think the best way to go is a dedicated set of minus size tire and wheel package.

http://www.tirerack.com/snow/WinterP...+Sport+Package

If you click on the explain link for the Minus Wheel Diameter: 18" or 17" it gives a good explanation on the advantages.

Other advantages not mentioned is that you are not flexing the sidewall of your tires do to removal and install on the wheels every year. That is not good for the sidewall or belts.

Also smaller tires are less expensive so that helps on the expense of a new set of wheels.

Most places you purchase tires from will count the mounting of snow tires that are on rims as a free tire rotation.
