Benefits of Ownership?

I think BMW is a great car company and so do many others judging by the premium BMW can charge. I just purchased my third BMW. My first was a 2003 335 convertible, my second a 2006 6 series convertible and must recently a 2104 640i xdrive convertible.

Shortly after purchasing my 2006 6 series I was offered a free BMW driving school session and was sent a beautiful leather bound book on the development and style of the then new 6 series.

Fast forward to 2014 and I find that BMW no longer offers the driving school as a benefit, except at full price. Yesterday I received a benefits card offering at best modest opportunities for travel upgrades or other unlikely to be used benefits.

I would have thought that BMW would more closely embrace its 6 series purchasers to make them feel, appropriately in my judgment, that they are appreciated in a substantial way having paid perhaps twice what a 3 series might cost.

Am I spoiled by my 2006 experience? Or is there a benefit to ownership yet to be received by me that would allow me to take back my observation?

BTW, I love my new 6 series.

You will probably receive some type of token gift. For me I have received a BMW thumb drive, a BMW key ring, and a reproduction of an early design drawing. It varies each year, but they do this for all of their models, so the 6 buyer isn't treated as anything special by company.

I believe there is a day of M school offered to the M car buyers who do a PDC in SC.

If you feel there's no love, wait for the resale value. ..

I love my car as well, but its worth a little over half of msrp with 2 years and 16k miles....

Some friends and I have tried to make rhyme or reason out of the gifts they send, don't know what formula they use but it is definitely more than what car you have.

Since taking delivery in early September the mail has brought me something each month, from a carbon fiber pen to a notebook of graph paper with design pictures/drawings every 5 to 8 pages. The umbrella is kind of cool, the coffee cup... well I don't drink coffee.

We suspect that purchase vs. lease has some bearing (can't prove it), but even that doesn't answer all. Some think the various survey's have a bearing, but again nothing to show that it does.

Is that right? Didn't look it up but I thought the 335 didn't come about until 2005?

I owned two 6ers from that generation and went to the (complimentary) driving school each time. Huge, huge fun.

bjayfan's comment about my reference to the 2003 335 caused me to look up my paperwork to find that my 3 series convertible was a 2002 330Ci model. As my first BMW it impressed me greatly and in fact I am sorry I did not hold onto the car to hand down to one of my daughters.

That's cool, I never had an E46, but having driven one I can understand that. The E90 (335) was very fun, much more powerful, but yet it would be a difficult decision between the two, the E46 was that good.

I got the graph book even before I purchased the new 6 series in late December and so I assumed it was sent just because I was already at 6 series owner.
