Mein Auto: 2014 BMW X1
2014 x1 RFT rotation

Hey everyone.

I am at about 4500 miles and started to research when I need my tires rotated.

I found many articles and threads saying to do it and not to do it.

Can someone please confirm? I have a trip next weekend and want to make sure.

Thanks!

Are your tires staggered? If you have the base 17" wheels, your tires should be the same front to back, so you can rotate front to back. If you don't have the base model wheels, then your rear tires should be wider than your front tires, or at least that's what I've read.

BMW mostly doesn't recommend rotation.

I used to sell tires, would rotate tires on my own stuff, and didn't seem to get much benefit out of it.

If you have extreme wear problem you might save a few tires while you get alinement set, but I've noticed you have to wear tires back in after rotation.

With traction control, IMO that tires should just be left alone until one hits 2/32, and then new ones all around or at least 2.

If you have staggered like my X1 M Sport, you can't rotate unless you take off rim and rotate side to side which is just too much fussing.

You can buy a tread depth gauge, and keep tabs on the wear so you can align before tires are ruined.
