Fog Light Question!

Ok I'm wondering anyone that has HID fog lights or someone who has replaced them what problems have you run in to with them turning on and off when your put blinkers. I understand that HID shouldn't be turned on and off, any recommendations would be helpful.

Are you talking about replacing out the bulb with an HID looking lamp or are you talking about changing out the entire housing with a true HID ballast ?

No replacing with a hid kit with ballast.

The problem with using HID ballasts on the fog lamps is that BMW also uses them as cornering lights.

The Lights aren't true on/off because they also serve as cornering lights, they fade and dim, which will cause flickering and shorten the life of the bulb and ballasts drastically unless the ballasts can handle dimming.

Ballasts are usually on or off - not inbetween.

You can code out that corner light feature.

Best way to go if you want to keep all stock functions with better illumination and looks is LED; but you need to get ones with integrated resistors or you'll have a bulb out warning! ...should be cheaper that xenons though.

Yes they are. But also for the x6 in Europe I think, and for $60 a pair I'll give it a shot.

Makes sense to give it a shot. Good luck and please report back how it goes.

Fog Light Question!

I have the m sport package and it seems like they're different from an x5 without m package. So we shall see.

The fog lights that is.

First "testing". Seems like a little "MacGyvering" might be necessary. Those suckers are huge, but thank god the hole is big enough. Updates to follow....Click image for larger version

for the X5 fog lights, you need H11 55W bulbs, we carry the halogen , Led, and also HID fog lights from MTEC, all error free!

Nope, no time yet.
But I will have to make a bracket to be able to use the current holes of the original fog lights. A piece of metal with 3 holes and done.
