That's it??????

I had that on my 09 well before 2009 finished as being the calendar year.

Check my list of PMs above. With that low of mileage you are still very much due for every fluid change I have done....

I bought this in March 2013 from out of state dealer with 4k miles. Paperwork says it was executive car. Loaded Black/Oyster with 18" rims. Under new car warranty until May 2014 (and extended after for 3 years). I won't be replacing any fluids until next spring. Thanks for the list. Only concern I have is a slight whine in the transfer case at 40mph which local dealer says is "normal". Love this SAV. Hate BMW navigation.

That is awesome!

Slight whine I assure you isn't normal (we have the exact same car...I just have 17in tires).

One of three things come to mind causing this:

1) one of your tires has a slightly different outside diameter than the others. The xfer case is very sensitive to this. When the diameter is drastically different it mostly causes very load clunk noises especially when turning.

2) time for xfer case and differential fluid change.

3) tire design is noisy and you are hearing road whine at spread from the tread pattern.

The e83 has a cruddy nav. I agree. It is technology from circa 2003 and wasn't brought to moderne standards until the f25 refresh in late 2010 for the 2011 my.

Dealers...

I first thought it was tires and asked service manager when I took him on a drive to hear the noise. He said no. It makes no noise at 40mph if I'm applying throttle - or - if I put it in neutral and coast. Noise only when coasting in gear at 40mph. I also asked for a fluid change. He said it probably wouldn't help. He also said that if he replaced the transfer case it may quiet down or it may just end up making the noise at a different speed. I'll bring it in again in the spring when the fluid thins out with the warmer weather. Noise was a bit louder this past summer. And, maybe I'll rotate the tires to see if the noise travels to another part of the car.

Anyway, absolutely great car in every other aspect. Even got to take it out in a recent snow and it performed well.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Cheers!

141K on my '07 3.0si...

Put in new Bilstein HD shocks & struts, upper & lower control arms, ball joints, and front / rear wheel bearings.

Looks like there's a small oil seal leak between engine and tranny just starting up. Glad I did the other work myself. Don't think I can do this one on my own.

Since I started walking to work, I'm barely putting on ~10 miles in a typical week. I really only use my X3 to go hiking, x-country skiing, or road trips to Portland and Vancouver.

4 months later, I crossed the 49K mark! At this rate, I'll be driving my X3 for decades more...

Hit 135k on Friday.

No new issues but am getting an intermittent fault code for a box fan short. Showed up about 1000 miles ago. I cleared it when I changed the oil and it hasn't reappeared yet on my weekly fault scan. Keeping my eye on it.

Now at

17 oil changes
4 transmission changes
4 transfer case fluid changes
4 differential fluid changes.

2007 3.0si recently hit 103k miles.

Lots of work done right before.
- VCG
- Spark Plugs
- Oil and Filter change
- Oil filter housing gasket
- Thermo
- Waterpump
- Trans oil and filter change
- Trans software update
- Rear T-case fluid change
- Bilstein HD's in all 4 corners
- REPAIR BILL - $2,800 USD

I think that was all of it.
