Axle back exhaust for 550i xDrive

Aside from Dinan, will any of the Corsa or Borla (or other) offerings fit a non M5 V8 F10?

Looking for more sound, no drone, quiet on cruise.

M5/M6 exhaust?

If you have the M Sport option on your car, then a set of factory F10 M5 or M6 will fit on original hangers w/o problem. You need only a transition pipe (3") to make the connection and the quad pipes will sit centered in the MSport diffuser. Keep the functionality of the vacuum flaps and you'll have no drone. Louder on start up and WOT, quiet while cursing. Thumbnail pic is car with the M5 muffle mod showing the quad tips.
Sorry, can't seem to upload my sound clip. To hear a similar sound in person, just test drive a stock M5 at the dealer.
Hope this helps

Just a side FYI , my Borla Atak has drone now on my F30. They say No Drone...wrong. Only happens when I am in a higher gear going at a moderate pace...45 or so..down a hill when I let off the pedal. Only then... do some extensive research.

Found them, almost by accident, on ebay. It was a complete M6 exhaust right off his F12 M6 (same mufflers).
Did the mufflers and just might do the X pipes very soon. You might find a set in the 5Post classifieds or ebay. Worth looking for, IMHO.

But the stock M5 exhaust isn't throaty so how can they sound better than stock 550i mufflers?

Anything sounds better than the stock 550i mufflers. There's no sound at all. The great thing about the M5 mufflers is they improve the sound tremendously and don't drone at all.

since finding used M5 OEM mufflers is hit and miss, anyone know what they run new (just the axle back)?

No idea, but it'll be laughably expensive. Both my exhaust tips are rusty and look like hell so I called my dealership to see about replacement, which is the entire muffler on each side. Over $800 per side. And that's just a 550.

Fabspeed has rear silencer delete pipes that sound amazing for a 550. Problem is they are asking $1,395 for them. WOW!
I emailed them asking how much for just the pipes because I want to keep my stock black tips on my '14 F10 w/ M sport package.
They never responded to me. WTF?

[QUOTE=Tuesday;8206862]Maybe this has been covered - but I had a new 650GC M-Sport as a loaner and the exhaust sound was phenomenal. Not too loud - super clean and literally zero drone.

that does sound great!

They are slow to respond via email.
Also... While I agree that 1400 is pricey for muffler delete pipes... Turner has 'em for 1500!
Also, FabSpeed is not a low cost provider... They sell high quality.

I don't recommend the M5 mufflers if you want more sound. The M5 mufflers are more to keep you out of the attention of cops.

I would recommend the following:

1) If you only want more throaty, go to an exhaust shop and have them remove the resonators from the OEM midpipes. That will give you throaty and a bit more sound. Very cheap mod this.

2) if you want a really nice sounding V8 (think AMG) then get the Eisenmann exhaust. Eisenmann makes the OEM exhaust for both AMG and Porsche. It's an OEM grade product, better than what's on the M5. Choose Race version if you want more sound at all rpms, and sport if you want to retain the OEM valve control to reduce drone and sound at low rpms.

Guys turnkey motorsports said the M5 has different mounting points then the 550i. So my question is how can M5 mufflers fit the 550i with Msport package?

I had my car in the dealership for a battery that's failing when cold and asked them to have a look at my corroding exhaust tips to see if they'd be covered under warranty. I assumed no, in which case I was planning to pull them off, hit them with some sand paper and some flat black engine paint I have laying around.

To my surprise BMW rejected replacing my battery instead opting to reprogram my car (again - which will fix nothing) BUT they approved 2 new mufflers! Go figure. Its worth asking your dealer for warranty coverage.

PM me if you want my specifics (the mufflers are on order).

If you want the m5 mufflers without modifying the bracket you also need the diffuser.

As for the sound stealth not sure what your talking about the sound is great, 3 fold when you drive aggressive and a nice growl on start up and all threw the band. Perfect fit if you ask me but to each his own listen to the YouTube clips.

I know what it sounds like. I have an M5. I hear this sound every week.
