Weird Cabin Noise

I've got a 2001 740il with 134k mi, and the cabin is pretty much free of buzzes and rattles. There is the usual sunroof wind noise which I know how to fix, but there is a very subtle and high pitched noise that is noticeable at 20 plus mph. It does not vary with speed but has a constant mild sinusoidal quality to it, much like the high frequency tone of a hearing test. Definately not wind noise. Even though it is barely perceptible, once you hear it, the sound can be annoying. Any suggestions?

Is this noise thru the speakers? You will have to record it there are too many variables to speculate.

I do not believe it is from the radio because it only appears at 20mph plus and is present even with the radio turned off.

I'll try tomorrow and see if it can be picked up on my iPhone. Thanks!

Just to check it off the list...check to make sure all of four of your rubber jack pads are in place. If one or more falls out...they can make a noise as air passes over the opening (think of blowing air across the top of a jug).

(the lifting pads are #12 in the diagram below...there's 2 on each side of the car...1 behind the front wheel, and 1 in front of the rear wheel...and the part nbrs listed in the TIS document are no longer current...they've changed)
