F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

M235i Package

Hey everyone. This is my first post to bimmerfest, and I am proud to say that I will soon own my first BMW! I absolutely loved the M235i the first second I looked at it, and I was astonished when I testdrove it. I'm very close to buying the car, but I can't decide whether any of the packages are really necessary or not... Other than the harman/kardon sound system, I can't decide whether the other options/packages are worth it. I don't see myself ever using the navigation since I can just use google maps with my iPhone, and the Premium package seemed pretty useless. What are your thoughts on the packages. Would any of them really have a drastic effect on my vehicle?

Thanks in advance.

I'm with you, less is more.
The only package I'm going to add is driver assistant. (parking disrtance and rear camera) After using the parking distance app on the wife's 328, it's become like heated seats (in Alaska) and xenon headlights, must have period.
Let me know what you think of the H-K sound.

Planning on doing an ED?

I tend to agree with snodoc. Options can be very pricey and that's were auto co's make their $, which usually means it's not a very good deal for you.

Tech packagage is definately overpriced for what you get. Like you said you can use your phone, or you can get a GPS that's 10x better for 1/10 the price.

If you want leather paying $800 more for CA and remote isn't that bad of a deal, although if I had to do mine all over again I wouldn't have paid for CA. Not that useful to me. I have a gate to open plus a garage door so I like the remote. CWP is a must up north, but I doubt you need it in Tampa. The other options are way overpriced too, but I would get the Driver Asst Pack, it could save the life of a child.

The H-K sound is amazing; I tried it out in another car. I decided that I am not going to purchase the technology package, but I'm still undecided on the premium. I'm definitely getting the leather seating, so the other options that come with the package are a pretty good deal. I do not have any children, so I don't think the Driver Assist Pack is necessary.

This is all that I would want and need in a M235i

Estoril Blue, Black SensaTec, Aluminum Hexagon interior trim, 18" double-spoke 436M wheels w/ mixed summer tires, Manual Transmission, Highlight trim finishers Estoril Blue matte

Just a quick heads up about the H/K system in the M235i. It has been recently discovered that BMW didn't have all their facts straight about the system. The BMWUSA website led everyone to believe the M235i had 16 speakers and a 600-Watt amp with graphic equalizer just like 3/4 series. Turns out you get a lot less for the $875. There are only 12 speakers, a 360-Watt amp and NO graphic equalizer. BMW just updated their website to correct the problem last week. Lots of people are now contacting BMW to try and get a credit or refund for their $875.

So just because the H/K sounded amazing in another BMW doesn't necessarily mean it will sound that great in the M235i. I'm sure it is "better" than the base audio...but $875 better? That is going to be rather subjective.

I have read this as well. Surely the HK system would sound better, no? It is a bit disappointing to see that there is no EQ or Logic7 though. I wonder if a new software release can fix it.

The HK is NOT amazing in the 2 series (it is amazing in the 3 and 4 series!) see my post on on this topic regarding the F22 HK elsewhere in the forum.
